These will help you understand and answer the questions at the Post Lab Individual Work attached below in the yellow assignment box.<\/em><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-black-color has-text-color\"><span style=\"color: #000000\">Activity One: Designing and Conducting an Experiment&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">As a table, each group of students should review the background information provided in the lab manual and make some of your own direct observations on these isopods.&nbsp; Then design and carry out their own experiments to learn more about Pill bugs and\/or Sow bugs and practice designing experiments.&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Groups should discuss their ideas and experimental design with their TA before setting up and running the experiment.&nbsp; Fill out the indicated questions\/fields identifying all the indicated experimental components and variables under <strong>YOUR EXPERIMENT<\/strong> in the Lab Handout.&nbsp; Careful planning is key to designing a good experiment.<\/span> Your TA will need to review and approve the Design before the group can carry out their experiment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Working as a group, write up your Experimental Design in your Lab Unit Handout under YOUR EXPERIMENT.  You will need to identify all indicated variables.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As a group, conduct the experiment and take a picture of your set up in action.<span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">  Collect data and consider what type of graph will best represent\/summarize your data.  Is it important to Include all data points or data averages?  You may find the Lab Manual <a href=\"https:\/\/wordpress-projects.wolfware.ncsu.edu\/bio-181-hybrid-lab\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/351\/2024\/09\/UNDERSTANDING-AND-REPRESENTING-DATA-1.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Appendix E Understanding and Representing Data <\/a>(covers types of data and graphs) and <a href=\"https:\/\/wordpress-projects.wolfware.ncsu.edu\/bio-181-hybrid-lab\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/351\/2018\/08\/Aooendix-D-Excel-Mac2018.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Appendix D Graphing Using Excel<\/a> (p. 220 for key graphing components) helpful or <strong>LabWrite<\/strong> &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/go.distance.ncsu.edu\/labwrite\/resources\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Resources &#8211; Data Representations<\/a> shows examples of Data Types, Tables and Various Types of Graphs<\/span>. <span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Graphs should be produced using a graphing program, such as Excel or Google Sheets.&nbsp; Hand drawn graphs will not be graded.
