Faculty Voices

Faculty participants are the heart of the Course Quality Program. They are valued champions and cheerleaders of high-quality course design. The Course Quality Team is dedicated to fostering partnerships with faculty that impact their teaching experience beyond program commitments. We are happy to say that their feedback has been overwhelmingly positive.

“The QM rubric is an excellent reminder to always keep the concept of alignment in mind when designing my courses. I think it is important to keep a “learners-first” mindset and consider what can help to clarify the structure and delivery of the course. I also find that using the QM guidelines reduces the number of student questions.”

– Dr. Wendy Warner (Department of Agricultural and Human Sciences)

Dr. Shweta Trivedi (Department of Animal Science) reflects on her experience in the Course Quality Program.

“As difficult as it was to go through the QM process, the course really is much better.  I just had a student last week say it was the best online course he’s taken!  He’s had several and he’s a technology education major, so he knows something about online delivery.”

– Dr. Peter Hessling (Department of Educational Evaluation and Policy Analysis)

Dr. Trino Ascencio-Ibanez (Department of Biochemistry) reflects on his experience in the course quality program

“Developing a course from scratch is a daunting task. I struggled to start, but once I decided to build a course map, it was much easier to organize my ideas. I’m confident this map has helped me design a course where the units, learning materials, and low and high stakes assignments align with the course learning outcomes. I refer to the course map often as I’m fleshing out the course materials and Moodle site. I’m so glad I took the time to do this!”

– Dr. Megan Kittle Autry (Department of Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering)
