Alina Jugan

Senior in Nuclear Engineering

Grand Challenge Focus: Sustainability
Grand Challenge Theme: Providing Clean Energy From Fusion

My name is Alina Jugan and I’m pursuing accelerated Bachelor/Master’s degrees in nuclear engineering with a minor in physics. In my time at NC State I’ve engaged in several research projects with a primary focus on plasma sciences. Understanding the behavior of plasmas is an integral component to developing clean energy from nuclear fusion. In the summer of 2022, I enjoyed a GCSP funded 10-week REU here on campus which then led to a 10-week internship the following summer at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. I am also a licensed reactor operator at NC State’s PULSTAR nuclear fission reactor. I’m ecstatic to be here and so grateful that the GCSP has provided me with the academic support to build my dreams. Feel free to get in touch at asjugan@ncsu.edu!
