I chose the grand challenge of engineering the tools of scientific discovery due to the interdisciplinary connection between engineering and the fundamentals of science. Science fundamentals have always been a unique interest of mine, but more recently, the application of these fundamentals became of interest. This grand challenge allows me to explore both sides of interests as there will always be interdependence between the two no matter the field of discovery.
