Plant Life Cycles Showing the Alternation of Haploid and Diploid Generations
Charophytes (not in your lab manual)
Chara is a haploid plant that produces both motile sperm and non-motile eggs on the same plant in specialized multicellular structures. After fertilization, a one celled diploid zygote is formed. The zygote only divides by meiosis to make haploid spores. It does not grow by mitosis to produce a multicellular diploid structure.
