E 102

E 102 – Engineering in the 21st Century (2 credit hours)

E 102 is required to be taken in your first Fall semester (unless otherwise informed by the College of Engineering). E 102 is offered in the Fall only. E 101 and E 102 are required for all engineering degrees and must be completed with a C minus or higher.

All engineering students are required to take 5 hours of GEP Interdisciplinary Perspectives (IP) courses. The 2 hours from E 102 will partially fulfill this GEP requirement; students will need one additional 3-hour class (e.g. to be found under the “GEP” category in the degree audit) to fulfill the remaining IP GEP requirement).

Students who need to move their E 102 section to accommodate another course should absolutely do so. You may use the SWAP feature in the Enrollment Wizard to change your E 102 class to make room for another class, to get a time that is more preferable to you, to change instructors, etc.

If you have trouble switching E 102 sections please see the E 102 Swap Form.

Students who did not start as freshmen in the College of Engineering are not required to enroll in E 102, but the course is available to all first-year students; first-year students interested in transferring into an engineering program are encouraged to enroll.
