The First-Year Writing Program does not require any indicators for enrollment in ENG 101.
Approximately 50% of the students in this cohort will be able to enroll in ENG 101 for the fall semester. This is due the availablity of courses assigned by the English department.
We (College of Engineering) have no control on their offerings and class availabilty.
If you cannot enroll in ENG 101, do not despair, you can take this class in the spring semester.
Only ~50% of engineering students will be eligible to enroll in ENG 101 beginning June 1st. The remaining students can look for open seats beginning July 1st or wait to enroll in the spring.
Non-native English speakers are encouraged to enroll in WLEN 101; this course meets all of the same CODA, major, and graduation requirements as ENG 101.
Students with transfer credit must have four hours to meet the ENG 101 requirement. For most students with transfer credit that means they have taken two, 3 credit hour, 100-level ENG courses. Students with one 3 credit hour, 100-level English course may enroll in ENG 202 (3 credit hours) to fulfil the remaining ENG 101 requirement.
CODA
English 101 is a required CODA course.
Students must earn a C minus (C-) or better in this class.
