In the summer prior to fall classes, incoming students attend New Student Orientation. Orientation is a program required for all first-year students designed to facilitate a student’s transition to college life and the start of their engineering education. The program is designed to help prepare students for the transition to NC State, including the intellectual, emotional, academic, and social challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.
During the afternoon of your NSO session, all first-year engineering students will attend a welcome session, and an advising session where you’ll have the opportunity to ask any lingering questions you may have.
In addition to this, we provide assistance in our computer labs after the advising session. You can expect to meet with advisors from the College of Engineering that can assist you with personalized advising.
