Summer Pre-Registration Process

General Information

  • Students will get their advising hold released within 24 – 48 hours after they complete their advising modules. More information about the modules can be found below.
  • Students will have an advisor assigned to them on Thursday, June 11, 2026. Completing the Moodle modules and utilizing the online, drop-in advising sessions should answer their advising and registration questions.
  • Students need to check their NC State email regularly. Official NC State correspondence will be sent to this account.

Advising & Registration

Process

  • Complete placement tests
  • Complete advising modules
  • Students with advising and registration questions should utilize the online, drop-in advising sessions. Check the schedule here (link). You will find the zoom information in the schedule.

Timeline

  • May 13, 2026: Advising modules become available (see details below); virtual, drop-in, virtual advising Q&A sessions begin & take place throughout the summer.
  • May 15, 2026: take placement tests by this date (but they will remain available) & be sure you’ve had all AP/IB scores and any transfer course transcripts submitted to NC State.
  • May 29, 2026: complete the online modules by this date to ensure your registration hold is released in time for your registration window.
  • June 1 – 5, 2026: Enrollment dates for Engineering First Year Students. You have an assigned date by Registration and Records (check your email and your enrollment wizard!). You can only add or change classes on that day until open enrollment. NOTE: You will not be able to register if you have not completed the advising modules and you have an advising hold.
  • June 11, 2026: program-specific academic advisors are assigned.
  • June & July: attend New Student Orientation.
  • Note: students will be pre-registered for the required first-semester engineering course, E102. Some suggested classes, based on common engineering requirements, have been added to students’ Pack Planner in MyPack.

Advising Modules

  • These advising modules will be available to you beginning Wednesday, May 13, 2026. Completing these modules will take between 1 and 2 hours.
  • Completing these modules should give you all the information you need to confidently create and make changes to your fall schedule.
  • Students will have their holds released between 24 – 48 hours after completing the advising modules before May 29th.
  • To access the “Engineering First Year Advising & Registration Summer 2026” Moodle site: First Year Advising & Registration Summer 2026” Moodle site:
    • Go to NCSU WolfWare at https://wolfware.ncsu.edu/
    • Click on “My WolfWare”
    • Login with your Unity ID and password (for more information see “Access Your NC State Email Account”)
    • You should now see the “My WolfWare Home Page,” which defaults to current classes; click on the “projects” tab to the right of the “current” tab
    • Click on “Engineering First Year Advising & Registration Summer 2026”

Registration Dates

Incoming first-year students will be randomly divided into the three groups for registration listed below. Open seats in sections will be divided evenly across these days, so no group of students has an advantage. Students can only register on their assigned date, but registration will reopen for all students on Monday, June 9, 2026.

  • Group 1: Monday, June 1, 2026 (8:00 a.m. – 11:59 p.m.)
  • Group 2: Wednesday, June 3, 2026 (8:00 a.m. – 11:59 p.m.)
  • Group 3: Friday, June 5, 2026 (8:00 a.m. – 11:59 p.m.)
